Concertina labels

A concertina label is a type of label that has been folded in a zigzag pattern.

The terms ‘multi-page label’, ‘fold-out label’, ‘booklet label’ or ‘extended label’ are often used as a synonym for concertina label.

Concertina labels are available in multiple formats.

One of the most common formats is the so-called fold-out format, where the label is folded out in a concertina style leaflet. Another popular format is the booklet format, where the information contained in the label is divided into several pages. These pages are then bound together as if they were a book.

In addition to the format, concertina labels can be manufactured in multiple shapes (e.g. round, squared) and sizes (e.g. big, medium, small).

Concertina labels are often used to label products whose packaging is so small that it does not allow the printing of the information which, otherwise, would be contained in a normal label. In this sense, concertina labels allow manufacturers to create labels that fit to the size of their products without sacrificing or compromising the information that must be displayed on the label.

Because of their capacity to compress a significant amount of information in a small size, concertina labels are used in several industries, including:

Concertina labels have multiple advantages, including the following:

• They reduce packaging costs. Since concertina labels are able to compress information in small amounts of space, manufacturers are allowed to apply them to their products instead of acquiring or manufacturing additional packaging.
