Case study on labelling and marking - Hoyer
Labelling systems and inkjet printing systems for bottles and canisters

Hoyer Group

The Hoyer Group is one of the largest manufacturers of AdBlue®. Hoyer sells 150 million litres of this solution per year, filling it into bottles and canisters with capacities ranging from one to 20 litres. Every day, over 2,400 AdBlue® products have to be labelled and marked. Hoyer relies on marking technology from Bluhm Weber Group.

The harmful component in diesel exhaust gases is nitrogen oxide. In order to reduce emissions and comply with legal emission control regulations, most manufacturers have integrated an SCR catalytic converter into their diesel vehicles. This catalyst mixes AdBlue® into the exhaust gas stream. The synthetically produced urea solution converts the nitrogen oxides into their components nitrogen and water, reducing emissions by up to 90 percent.

Labelling different products

Several Geset labelling systems label unfilled containers from two sides as they pass through. A headband in the Geset 100 labelling system secures and transports the lightweight containers. Hoyer uses different types of packaging, such as round bottles and conical canisters. The operator can switch the systems to a new product in just a few simple steps. The heart of the systems is the space-saving Alpha Compact label dispenser. With the help of various applicators, which are selected depending on the application, Alpha Compact systems apply pre-printed labels quickly and accurately to products and packaging. At Hoyer, wipe-on dispensers are used, which wipe the labels onto the side of the passing products.

Durable labelling with Markoprint X1JET

After labelling, a Markoprint X1JET thermal inkjet printing system from Bluhm Weber Group applies a batch number and the best-before date to each product. Since water-based inks do not adhere to plastic surfaces, Hoyer uses a solvent-based ink. It has excellent adhesion and drying properties on plastics.
