Labeler
WHAT IS A LABELER?
Labelers are product labeling machines. They apply labels to products, packaging, containers or pallets either fully automatically or semi-automatically. The labeling process can be carried out on stationary products or on moving items, e.g. on conveyor belts.
There are different types of labelers:
Labelling systems
Labelling systems are fully automatic labelling machines which, in addition to integrated label dispensers and/or label print dispensers, have additional modules for product guidance and alignment (e.g. wrapping and rotating) as well as other additional functions.

Label printing dispenser
Label printing dispensers print labels with information before applying them to the desired surface. In contrast to pure label dispensers, these systems have an integrated print module.

Label dispenser
Label dispensers apply pre-printed labels fully automatically. Suitable for a wide range of shapes, surfaces and applications.

What are the requirements for labellers
As every production process has its own special features, labelers must be able to adapt variably to a wide range of conditions. These include the following factors, for example:
Cycle rate / conveyor belt speed
The drive module of the labeler is based on the speed of the conveyor belt and the cycle rate (number of items to be labeled per second/minute). The labeling process can be carried out on stationary or moving products (e.g. on conveyor belts).
Production conditions
Special production conditions and environments, such as extreme temperatures or temperature fluctuations, dust exposure or the need for wet cleaning, may require a special enclosure or extended IP protection for the labeler.
Space
The space available for the labeler on site determines how its individual modules (base module with drive unit, dispensing unit, printing module, and unwinder and rewinder for the label webs) have to be mounted.
Customer IT systems
Depending on the connection options to the customer's own ERP system, labeling machines can be controlled and configured from the customer's PC or from the labeling machine's input unit.
Print content and print resolution
The print modules must be selected based on whether codes such as barcodes, QR codes or data matrix codes, as well as logos or images, are to be printed in addition to plain text.
The print module and the printing method to be selected (such as thermal transfer printing or thermal direct printing) also depend on the desired resolution and durability of the print (e.g. seawater resistance).
Label processing
The labeling machine must also be suitable for the size, format and type of labels. In addition to paper and film labels, there are also, for example, RFID labels or flag labels.
Shape, size and surface of the product to be labeled
The labeling machines must also be adapted to the products to be labeled. They may need to be able to label different product heights or uneven products such as bags or sacks.
Desired labeling positions
There are numerous possibilities for the position of the label on the product or packaging: in addition to single- or double-sided labeling, these include, for example, labeling on the inside or around corners. In addition, labeling can be done from above, from the side, from below or all around.
labelers in use for product labeling
We would be happy to work with you to develop your perfect labeling system with one or more labelers, as every production process has its own special features.
The labelers from Weber Marking Systems are extremely robust and durable due to their solid construction and the fact that they have as few moving parts as possible, so that these labelers can easily be used in 24-hour shifts for many years!
