The new wine regulation
As of December 8, 2023, new standards for wine labeling will be applied. The European regulation 2021/2117 requires that consumers be informed of the nutritional declaration (energy value) and the list of ingredients via a QR code on wine products.
As wine does not have a defined recipe, professionals in the sector need to be able to modify the information concerning the energy value or the list of ingredients. It is necessary to have a flexible identification, able to manage variables such as vintages, blends and different ingredients.
The back label will have to indicate the energy value (via the “E” symbol) in kilojoules or kilocalories per 100ml. For the list of ingredients, clarifications are expected from the EU. Currently, the EU Regulation 2019/934 allows 23 substances as food additives for wine making. These are acidity regulators (tartaric acid, malic acid, lactic acid …), preservatives and antioxidants (sulfur dioxide, potassium bisulfite …) stabilizing agents or gases (argon, nitrogen, carbon dioxide).

- Inkjet printing of the QR code
Thanks to a thermal inkjet printer, we can print the QR code on the label containing the information required by the regulation. This allows you to easily change the QR code according to the products and to be totally flexible.
This inkjet printers allows an economic, simple and fast marking of goods. It offers a print height of 12.5mm for the identification of batch numbers or best before dates. The printer is easy to use and maintenance free.
Integra vivid
The Integra Vivid is a 7″ color HMI touch screen. It allows the operator to change printer settings, check printer status and select the desired message for marking. It is compatible with Markoprint inkjet printers.
