Corner-Wrap Labeling
Learn what corner-wrap labeling is and how Weber Marking Systems can help you with it!
What is Corner-Wrap Labeling?
Corner-wrap labeling (sometimes also called c-wrap or l-wrap labeling) is a labeling technique used to apply labels on two or more sides of a cardboard or similar container. This way, several sides are covered with a single label instead of applying multiple labels to each side.
Types of Corner-Wrap Labeling
There are two main corner-wrap labeling techniques:
-
C-wrap labeling: here, a label covers three sides of the cardboard (e.g., top, bottom and front). This corner-wrap labeling technique is very common in the food industry.
-
L-wrap labeling: here, a label covers two faces (usually the top and the front) of a cardboard. This labeling technique is frequently used to label pharmaceutical products.
What advantages does corner-wrap labeling offer?
Corner-wrap labeling offers multiple advantages, including the following:
-
Security (tamper evidencing): corner-wrap labeling ensures that tampering signs are clearly visible. This is because a product labeled with a corner-wrap label cannot be tampered with without damaging the label in the process.
-
Branding: corner-wrap labels cover more space than traditional labels. As a result, manufacturers have more space to use for advertising.
-
Scanning easy: a label that covers several sides of a product allows scanning from multiple angles. This makes the entire logistics and checkout process faster.
How are corner-wrap labels applied?
As with other label types, corner-wrap labels can be applied automatically with the help of the right labeling system.
Usually, the product intended to be labeled will be placed in a conveyor belt. When the product reaches the labeling system (e.g., a label applicator), the label is applied on one side. Then, a specialized roller ensures that the rest of the label is applied on the remaining side(s).
