Linerless Labeling
Learn what linerless labeling is and how Weber Marking Systems can help you with it!
What is Linerless Labeling?
Linerless labeling is a special labeling technique where labels are applied without the need to peel off their plastic backing or slippery paper (the so-called liner).
How does Linerless Labeling work?
As already mentioned, linerless labels do not have a plastic or paper backing that must be peeled off before the application. However, linerless labels are manufactured in rolls.
The question is therefore the following: how can linerless labels be applied?
The answer is quite simple: the front side of a linerless label is covered with a silicone release coating. This coating prevents permanent sticking and it allows linerless labels to be peeled off cleanly and without damaging the front side of the other labels in the roll.
What advantages does Linerless Labeling have?
The main advantage of linerless labeling is waste reduction. Since no plastic or paper backing is used, labels can be applied to a product without accumulating a large amount of backing material. As a result, linerless labeling contributes to a much more sustainable environment.
In addition to this, linerless labeling offers other advantages:
-
More labels can be added per roll. Since no backing material is used, rolls can be fully filled with labels.
-
Fewer changeovers. The fact that linerless label rolls have more labels than other roll types reduces the changeover pace.
Specific requirements for Linerless Labeling
Linerless labeling requires special labeling systems in order to work, a simple label printer not being enough.
When applying linerless labels, it is important that the adhesive does not gum up the internal gears of the labeling system. As a result, a suitable labeling machine is absolutely required in order to guarantee its entire life cycle.
How can Weber Marking Systems help with Linerless Labeling?
