Protection against manipulation is an important issue for many manufacturers - often in connection with protection against counterfeiting. Did you know that you can protect your products from unauthorized opening with the right labeling? This not only raises the hurdles for product pirates, but also increases buyers' trust in your brand. Read here how Weber Marking Systems can help you with this task.
Whether for medicines, food or cosmetic products: seal labels assure the consumer that the product is still sealed in its original packaging. In the pharmaceutical industry, such proof is, as of 2019, even mandatory in addition to serialization: within the framework of the Counterfeiting Protection Directive 2011/62/EU, every prescription drug must have tamper protection as an additional security feature.
For effective protection against tampering, seal labels must leave a visible "trace" when opened for the first time. This is most often done by irreversibly damaging the packaging when the label is removed. There are various options for this form of product security:
In addition to sealing, there are other methods such as cellophane wrapping, gluing or special folding techniques. Seal labels, however, have clear advantages: appropriate labeling machines can usually be integrated into the existing production chain without much effort. As a result, there are no costs for new packaging, new systems or the conversion of the packaging line.
In addition, seal labels interfere less with the packaging design. On the other hand, white blank labels offer space for additional information such as serialization data.
Tamper evident means "evidence of opening". Weber Marking Systems has developed the compact Tamper Evident labeling machine especially for folding boxes and small boxes. It automatically seals packaging across the corner with a label.
