Waterproof label

What is a waterproof label?

A waterproof label is a special type of label that can withstand water without being damaged or removed from the surface it was attached to.

Waterproof labels are used for applications that involve exposure to water or other liquids. These include bathroom products, kitchen products or equipment that is in contact with water on a regular basis (e.g. swimming pool equipment).

Advantages of waterproof labels

Waterproof labels have many advantages, including the following:

  • They are durable. In addition to withstand water, waterproof labels offer a long durability.
  • They can withstand a wide range of temperatures. These include heat or temperatures below zero degrees.
  • They can be manufactured using different materials. Vinyl, brass, polyester or even aluminum can be used to create waterproof labels.
  • They offer high legibility. Even if the label is exposed to water on a regular basis, the print remains legible.
  • They are resistant to tearing, smudging and scuffing.

How are waterproof labels manufactured

The process of manufacturing waterproof labels does not vary too much from how other traditional labels are created. The main difference lies in the label components: in order to be waterproof, labels need to be manufactured using face materials, adhesives and inks that are waterproof. Otherwise, they will not be able to withstand water or other liquids.

Differences between waterproof labels, weatherproof labels and water-resistant labels

Unlike waterproof labels, weatherproof labels are manufactured to withstand a wide range of external agents, water being one of them. This does not mean that waterproof labels can only withstand water: in most cases, they also offer protection against other external agents such as extreme temperatures.

Water-resistant labels, on the other hand, have a waterproof coating but their stock is not waterproof. In addition, they are only able to withstand moisture for a short period of time. Waterproof labels, however, offer durable resistance against moisture and are manufactured using waterproof stock.
