How pallet labeling works – A short guide

Weber Marking Systems’ easy-to-integrate label printer and dispensers are high-tech, advanced technological solutions designed and crafted to take part in industrial environments. Our product line ranges from identifying and marking the product itself – thus primary packaging identification – to marking or labeling the product’s packaging (e.g. boxes, case shippers in the case of pharmaceuticals, envelopes in the case of e-commerce) and last but not least, the identification and label-application on pallet.

Pallets are best known as tertiary packaging in the industrial jargon and consist of many boxes put together and wrapped in plastic film – thus palletized – for simplifying large badges transportation. However, pallets are not meant just to facilitate the transportation of goods, but aim also at guaranteeing safety and traceability. For this reason, production and the whole supply chain use pallets to track, trace and identify badges. In this article, we dive into pallet-identification and pallet-labeling, putting on the spotlight traceability and safety during shipping within different sectors, warehouses, and logistics.

What is LPN labeling and how can it help speed up logistics?

LPN Labelling is used in an internal track & trace system and can be applied to various processes. This gives you real-time insight into stocks, the location of goods and the status of orders. An LPN Label is a label with a reference number, or a License Plate Number (LPN). An LPN Label is a pre-printed label with a unique number, which only fits on one pallet or one box.

The product packaging (box, envelope, bag or float packaging) is labelled with an LPN Label. Information about the relevant packaging is linked to the License Plate Number, such as relevant dates, batch numbers, colour codes or hazards. When the LPN Label is scanned elsewhere in the warehouse, the person in charge knows exactly what should happen to it, where it should go, what it contains and what the dangers are.

Legi-Air 4050E – A labeling machine to reliably label wood

At Bluhm Weber headquarters, we develop, design, and manufacture innovative labeling solutions for a wide range of industries—such as the wood industry. After many wooden beams are cut to size, the individual boards must be labeled with barcode labels so that, among other things, the origin of the wood can be accurately identified later. The rough wood surface and the dusty production environment pose a challenge. Find out which print-apply labeling system reliably and cleanly marks these natural products despite these conditions.
